About the office/school

The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth. The Finance Office implements an operating model that enables a greater level of engagement across the University supporting the identification and prioritisation of initiatives that deliver operational efficiencies and provide reporting solutions that inform decision-making.
 
About the role

To assist and support the Finance Business Partnering Lead and Associate Director, Business Engagement, in managing the financial operations across the Faculties. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with financial processes, driving process improvements, and managing financial data to support decision-making. The position will assist with budgeting, reporting, and overall financial management, while also ensuring that all expenditure commitments are aligned with organisational policies and approved processes. The Finance Officer will work on a variety of ad hoc projects, supporting the Faculties in meeting their financial requirements and enhancing the efficiency of financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of administrative and business operations support and analysis (as required) including but not limited to, assisting in month end reporting functions, budget adjustments, analysis of financial information, processing invoices and procurement requests.
  • Assist with monitoring transactions against budget funding availability and advise key stakeholders of issues and contribute to solutions as required.
  • Prepare financial reports, documents, and correspondence to clearly communicate required operational information to stakeholders.
  • Responding to queries in a timely manner from various faculties that may be both financial and operational in nature.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining databases for various finance activities and deliverables.
  • Assists with finance projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with department objectives and financial policies.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or
  • Extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields, or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and or/ education/ training.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end cycles
